Abstract: For a constructible étale sheaf on a smooth variety over a positive characteristic field, we first review two classical invariants: the epsilon factor and the Euler characteristic that appear in the functional equation of its L-function, and relations with ramification theory. We then discuss cohomological analogs and consequences. This is joint work with Enlin Yang.
